Participation in the SIAM Chapters Meeting for Young Researchers

January 2026 - Milan, Italy

In January, our Chapter members had the privilege of attending the SIAM Chapters Meeting for Young Researchers in Applied Mathematics and Scientific Computing, hosted by the SIAM Student Chapter at Politecnico di Milano.

This event served as a vital platform for integrating into the broader SIAM community, fostering connections with fellow researchers, and formally introducing our chapter's mission and activities.

Scientific Contributions and Leadership

Our members played an active role in the conference proceedings through various academic and organizational contributions:

  • Presentations: Christian Daniele delivered a contributed talk, and Sofia Agostoni presented her research during the poster session.
  • Institutional Networking: Veronica Pignedoli participated in the round-table discussion with all Italian SIAM Student Chapters, presenting our group’s progress and offering strategic guidance on founding new student chapters.
  • Committees: Simone Sanna and Veronica Pignedoli served on the Scientific Committee, contributing to the academic rigor of the event.
  • New Horizons: Giordano Vitale took part in the inaugural meeting of Young SIMAI, marking the official establishment of the organization.

Representing the University of Genoa

We were honored to invite Luca Calatroni as a keynote speaker. The University of Genoa was further distinguished by the following contributions:

  • Contributed Talks: Hippolyte Labarriere and Valeria Fiori.
  • Poster Presentations: Paolo Angella and Xiaolin Xing.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the organizers at SIAM Student Chapter PoliMi for such a rewarding experience. We look forward to future collaborations and the next edition of this meeting!
